AI Empowers Education 4 | Computable Doc Intro: A Hands-on Guide To Keepwork Platform

Date & Time: 12:30-13:30, 17 October 2024 (Thur)
Facilitator: Mr. Xizhi LI (Founder of Neural Parallel Language (NPL) and Paracraft, CEO of Shenzhen Tatfook Network Technology)
Language: English
Venue: Online via Tencent Meeting
Meeting Code: 203-565-944
Abstract: Computable Doc is a cutting-edge, markdown and web-based document format that is readable by both humans and AI. Users can add various computable modules to the document, allowing them to edit and run various codes directly within the web page. Web assembly technology is used to enable various computable modules such as VR simulation, Python, C/C++, CAD, and large language models to run directly within the document.

Keepwork is dedicated to becoming the next-generation platform for creating computable documents. Whether it's digital textbooks, document websites, or personal works, everyone can become a developer of interactive digital content. In the age of AI, we encourage students and teachers to digitize their personal works and knowledge-bases; by combining text with computable modules, they can publish their own digital resources and establish a digital self on the web.

UIC FBM Professors and Students Collaborate to Publish Casebook on Chinese Unicorns and Startups

In September 2024, Dr. Youssef Elhaoussine and Dr. Henni Appelgryn from the UIC FBM Department of Management edited and published with IGI Global (a US-based international academic publisher) a teaching casebook containing a collection of 27 teaching case studies. This student-oriented project involved 26 students, with each student responsible for researching and developing a case study about a specific company. Under the guidance of Dr. Elhaoussine and Dr. Appelgryn, the students received support in creating their case studies suitable for academic publication in the casebook. This experience not only allowed the students to publish their case studies but also to provide them with the opportunity to explore the details of successful companies in China and enhance their writing and analytical skills. Congratulations to all the students for their hard work and dedication. Out of the 27 cases, 25 were authored by current or former UIC FBM students from various departments:
- 12 cases were authored by FBM DFE students
- 7 cases were authored by FBM DM students
- 6 cases were authored by FBM DAcct students

About the Casebook: Understanding China's growing startup ecosystem and the rise of unicorn (fast growing companies valued at over one billion US dollars) is a challenge for scholars and business enthusiasts. "Cases on Chinese Unicorns and the Development of Startups" offers a collection of teaching case studies that provide insights into the evolution, market presence, revenue streams, leadership transitions, and funding sources of these companies. This book equips scholars, researchers, and business practitioners with practical insights to navigate the complexities of the Chinese market and replicate success globally.
