How to Make Teaching More Interactive in the Chinese Context

Date & Time: 12:10 - 12:50, Apr 25 (Thu), 2024

Topic: How to Make Teaching More Interactive in the Chinese Context
Presenter: Dr. Yegor GREBNEV (Assistant Professor in Chinese Culture and Global Communication, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences)
Venue: T2-202
Language: English

Eligibility: Teaching/Teaching support staff
Description:At this proposed talk, Dr.Yegor GREBNEV intends to share some of the tools that he has mastered over the last few years, aiming to increase student interactivity. While oral responses are perceived by Chinese students as very stressful, they feel quite comfortable about sharing their opinions online. He would therefore share: 1) Online presentation tools (warm-up questions, knowledge quizzes, knowledge control questions). 2) Co-editing tools with shared online documents: this is a very efficient tool for classes that involve online editing and translation. 3) Knowledge checks with iSpace's built-in questionnaire tools, which is useful to keep track of students' comprehension of class materials.

Brown Bag Teaching Sharing (BBTS) aims to provide an informal and pleasing environment for peer communication and learning among teaching staff. The platform is available to all teaching staff to register themselves as presenters on a voluntary basis. If you are interested in sharing your hands-on experiences or insights on teaching with other teachers at UIC, please contact Ms. Arie JIN at ariexjin@uic.edu.cn
