Open Classroom Initiative | Call for Open-up Classrooms for Week 8 & 9 (8 April — 19 April)

OCI aims to create a safe and collaborative environment for teaching staff to enhance their practices through peer observation. You have the opportunity to open your physical classroom to showcase a specific aspect of your teaching and learning practice for which you would like to receive feedback from your peers. Additionally, you can choose to observe your colleagues to enhance your teaching skills.

OCI Period for Semester 2 of 2023 - 24:
·      Phase I: 18 Mar (Week 5) to 29 Mar (Week 6)
·      Phase II: 8 Apr (Week 8) to 19 Apr (Week 9)
Benefits:
·        Gain valuable peer feedback on your teaching.
·        Share your expertise and contribute to teaching excellence.
·        Build a supportive network of instructors
How to Participate:
1.     Review the detailed procedure
2.     Register your open classroom by 12 pm, 29 March through MIS Survey: https://mis.uic.edu.cn/survey/login.jsp.
3.     Host your session and complete the Open Classroom Reflection Form
4.      Receive a certificate upon successful completion.

Facilitator(s): Dr David Santandreu Calonge is Acting Director (Academic Development) and Head of Educational Program Development at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI, United Arab Emirates)
He is an award-winning academic and has previously worked in Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia, and Dubai and has written in the areas of education policy, Generative AI in Learning and Teaching, MOOCs, innovative curriculum design, and disruptive technologies in education.
Abstract: Conducted by Dr David Santandreu Calonge, the two workshops aim to provide insight for teachers and students in teaching and learning through utilising AI tools. In the morning session, the participants will be introduced to various creative uses of ChatGPT and other AI tools in education. In the afternoon session, the workshop demonstrates how students can acquire the best learning outcome with inspirational tips of engineering AI prompts.

International Symposium on Humanities, Societies and Digital Futures

The two-day symposium will discuss the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) from the perspectives of humanity and society. All are welcome to join this critical university event. Your involvement is crucial in contributing diverse perspectives to the discussions with the guest speakers and other participants.
