Open Classroom Initiative for Peer Observers

The Open Classroom Initiative (OCI) fosters a collaborative environment for faculty to improve teaching practices through peer observation. In Semester 2 of 2023-24, OCI will be held in two phases:
•     Phase I: 18 Mar (Week 5) to 29 Mar (Week 6)
•     Phase II: 8 Apr (Week 8) to 19 Apr (Week 9)

Important Note: The College will sponsor 50% of the HEA Fellowship application fees as a subscribing institution and the CTL and HRO will jointly reimburse the other 50% for colleagues who are awarded the fellowships, including Associate Fellowship (AFHEA), Fellowship (FHEA), Senior Fellowship (SFHEA), and Principle Fellowship (PFHEA).

Facilitator(s): Dr David Santandreu Calonge is Acting Director (Academic Development) and Head of Educational Program Development at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI, United Arab Emirates). He is an award-winning academic and has previously worked in Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia, and Dubai and has written in the areas of education policy, Generative AI in Learning and Teaching, MOOCs, innovative curriculum design, and disruptive technologies in education.

Abstract: The International Symposium on Humanities, Societies and Digital Futures, co-organised by the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Social Sciences, will be held on 21st-22nd March 2024 at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Palace Museum. The two-day symposium will discuss the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) from the perspectives of humanity and society. All are welcome to join this critical university event. Your involvement is crucial in contributing diverse perspectives to the discussions with the guest speakers and other participants.
