Latest ITL: New trend in education 感悟教育新思,《创新教与学》上新!

The latest issue (Vol. 5, No. 1) of the scholarly journal Innovative Teaching and Learning (ITL) has been released.

The authors are from world-renowned institutes, including Stanford University, Chi Nan University and Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC).

Founded by UIC and published semi-annually by Global Science Press in Hong Kong, ITL (ISSN 2709-2917 print; ISSN 2709-2291 online) is committed to advancing higher education pedagogy through evidence-based research, evaluative studies, and the sharing of effective teaching practices. Notice for the 4th UIC Innovative Teaching Contest 北师港浸大第四届教师教学创新大赛通知
To promote teaching excellence at UIC and nominate outstanding teachers for the 4th National and Guangdong Innovative Teaching Contest (第四届全国高校教师教学创新大赛广东分赛暨广东省高校教师教学创新大赛), we are pleased to announce that the 4th BNU-HKBU United International College Innovative Teaching Contest is scheduled to commence from now to late February 2024 (see Attachment 1).

Theme:
Promote teaching innovation and nurture top talents (推动教学创新,培养一流人才)

Eligibility:
All full-time teachers at UIC are eligible to participate in the contest, either as a team or individually.

If the participation is on a team basis, the team should have one lead instructor and no more than three support instructors. The lead instructor must have taught the participating undergraduate course for more than two times in the past five years.

Applicants will be divided into three categories for competition based on the professional technical position of the lead instructor: a. Professor, b. Associate Professor, and c. Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer.


The application materials include:
1. Teaching Innovation Report (length: 4000 words, including abstract and main text) (教学创新成果报告, 含摘要、正文不超过4000字)
2. Class Teaching Video Recording and Relevant Materials (课堂教学实录视频及相关材料, see Appendix 2 in Attachment 1 for details)
The supporting materials for the video recording should include:
The course syllabus (including the course title, course nature, course units, target students, course introduction and objectives, course content and plan, and course evaluation)

The teaching plan and the PPT slides corresponding to the video.

Special Reminder:
According to the requirement of the provincial contest, the submitted video recording and other materials (except for the scanned copies of the original supporting materials) should not disclose the name of the university and the teacher. The participants should ensure the originality of the materials related to teaching innovative design.

Application:
1. Non-native Mandarin-speaking participants are highly encouraged to submit the applications in English at the university-wide Contest. Participants are responsible for translating the application materials into Chinese when they are nominated to participate in the provincial contest.
2. Please log in to the Chaoxing Service System (Attachment 3: Registration and Material Uploading System Operation Guide), submit all needed materials to the system (Teaching Innovation Report or Curriculum Ideology and Politics Innovation Report, class teaching video recording and relevant materials) by 17:00, February 19th (Monday), 2024.
3. Please carefully read the contest guidelines (Attachment 1) and Q&A (Attachment 2) for more detailed information.

Awards:
1. Award certificates and cash prize will be provided for the Grand Prize, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, and Honorable Mention.
2. Outstanding participants will be recommended to participate in the contest at the provincial level.

With these evidence-based knowledge-sharing sessions, the "Generative AI Insights (GAIN) 2024" conference aims to inspire, connect, and empower academics and researchers to foster a collaborative community to drive continuous innovations and advancements in AI education and research.
