Mr. Jonas Kelsch teaches general and academic English and specialises in writing tutoring. He arrived in China shortly after receiving a bachelor’s degree in language and international studies from the College of Saint Scholastica, USA, where he began working at UIC as an English Language Centre intern. After receiving his CELTA, he was appointed as a lecturer – a position he served in for five years before pursuing a Master of Journalism at The University of Hong Kong. Following graduation, he worked as a corporate writer and part-time lecturer at several Hong Kong tertiary institutions. In 2018, he returned to UIC as an English lecturer. During his time at UIC, he has taught a variety of general and academic English skills to students and served as an IELTS examiner. Recently, he has engaged in blended learning research and has served as an editor of academic manuscripts.

Awards:
  • Award certificates and cash prize will be provided for Grand Prize, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, and Honorable Mention.

  • Outstanding participants will be recommended to participate in the contest at the provincial level.

Exploring Students' Feedback Literacy Development Following a Work Placement Year

Dr Edd Pitt (Reader and Director PGCHE, Centre for the Study of Higher Education, University of Kent, UK) Edd is the Programme Director for the Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and Reader in Higher Education and Academic Practice in the centre for the study of higher education at the University of Kent, UK. Edd has recently been collaborating with Academics in the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong and Australia. His principal research field is Assessment and Feedback with a particular focus upon student's use of feedback. His current research agenda explores signature feedback practices and the development of both teacher and student feedback literacy. His most recent publication was a systematic literature review of Assessment and Feedback articles between 2016 - 2021 commissioned by Advance HE.
