The Spring 2024–2025 “Stay Hungry: Meal with Your Professor” Has Successfully Concluded

From April 14 to April 25, 2025, the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office (SAO), hosted the Spring 2024–2025 “Stay Hungry: Meal with Your Professor” (MYP) event. Nearly 500 participants from diverse cultural backgrounds took part. Through student-initiated lunches or afternoon tea, participating students and teachers engaged in relaxed, meaningful conversations.

The initiative aims to create an open, informal space beyond the classroom, where students are encouraged to invite teachers for face-to-face discussions. This helps foster mutual understanding and builds stronger connections throughout the learning journey.

Notably, this semester broke previous records in both table reservations and participant numbers. Sophomore and junior students have emerged as key participants in the MYP, focusing on academic and practical experiences, while senior students were more inclined to discuss research directions and career planning. For graduating students, it is not only a way to better prepare for the future but also to mark the end of their college journey with a meaningful and memorable experience.

Both students and faculty gave high praise to the event. Students shared that the relaxed, face-to-face dialogues with teachers inspired their learning, life, and visions of the future. Faculty members likewise reflected that stepping outside the classroom and engaging in open, equal dialogue over a shared meal gave them a clearer understanding of students thoughts and concerns, offering fresh perspectives for refining their teaching content and methods.

As the event came to an end, many students expressed their appreciation for and anticipation of this platform. MYP as a cross-cultural space for teacher-student communication not only narrowed the distance between faculty and students but also fostered a warm and trusting academic atmosphere. This heartfelt journey of engagement has brought a special sense of warmth and vitality to the BNBU campus.
