The AI Empowers Education series held its eighth session on December 11, 2024, focusing on the integration of human and artificial intelligence to improve educational quality. The event featured Dr. Angus Cheong, President of the Macau Association for Internet Research (MAIR) and the Founder of eRS Solutions & uMax Data Technology, as the speaker, with Dr. Vivien Wai Wan Chan from the Centre of Teaching and Learning (CTL) as the host. This event attracted an audience of 66 students and teachers keen to discuss the implications of AI in education.

Dr. Cheong introduced his innovative method of combining artificial intelligence with human intelligence. This method aims to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tasks such as content creation, translation and creating questionnaires. In addition, he addressed essential issues like ethics, trust creation, and the ethical component of work in the practices of using this type of artificial intelligence in education.

The session highlighted how Dr. Cheong used generative AI to foster collaborative and innovative learning environments, offering alternatives to traditional classroom structures. Dr. Cheong also provided suggestions on how to apply AI in creating questionnaires which can efficiently foster social listening and writing articles for various platforms, such as Facebook, X, and REDnote.

The session fostered active discussions, with participants asking Dr. Cheong questions about AI database sources, platform applications, and biases in AI tools and systems. Using the AI tool he demonstrated, Dr. Cheong generated a questionnaire, which participants completed to evaluate the delivery of the speech, demonstrating how AI helps educators efficiently collect and analyze audience feedback.
