Zhuhai, We Care for You: Dialogue on the Tragedy and the Need for Life Education

On November 11, a devastating incident occurred at the Sports Center in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai, when a vehicle struck pedestrians, leaving behind not only casualties but also a profound emotional impact that rippled through our community. In the face of such tragedy, the need for compassion and shared understanding became undeniable. Responding to this, the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the Student Affairs Office (SAO) organized a talk on November 14, “Zhuhai, We Care for You, providing a warm space for students and faculty alike to gather, share, and support one another. The gathering began with all in attendance standing in solemn silence, a collective moment of remembrance for those affected.

Throughout the event, the speakers shared their personal and professional insights into healing, each bringing unique perspectives to help guide attendees in finding support and solace. Their words encouraged students and faculty to face grief not as an isolated experience but as a shared journey, inviting reflections from attendees who openly spoke of their personal struggles with tragedy and adversity.

As the event drew to a close, Mr. Tan Daqiang led a collective activity that underscored the unity in the room. Together, participants created a handprint scroll painting, a long scroll of heartfelt wishes and positive aspirations. With the inscription “Hand to Hand, Mountain to Mountain, Heart to Heart” at its end, the scroll painting symbolized the strength of community and the enduring value of life education in facing challenges.
