Teaching Community Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival Together

On September 28, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) organized a Mid-Autumn party for social gathering. This event also featured a talk given by Prof. Jun Zhang, Beijing Normal University (Zhuhai), titled, “Maintenance of Teachers' Professional Mental Health in the Post-epidemic Period.” This gathering brought the teaching community together in an atmosphere of camaraderie and well-being.

Co-organized with the UIC Union, the Mid-Autumn Festival Party aims to foster support among UIC's teaching staff. Prof. Zhang’s lecture, "Maintenance of Teachers' Professional Mental Health in the Post-epidemic Period," was based on the perspective of positive psychology and highlighted the significant impact of the pandemic on educators and the imperative of supporting their mental health.

The informal social gathering offered a delightful array of activities, including traditional mooncake tasting and cultural performances. In addition, there was a delicious brunch provided for teaching community members to come together and enjoy a delightful meal. This informal gathering created a warm and upbeat atmosphere where teachers could relax, chat, and share experiences on work, academics and life.

CTL's dedication to nurturing a supportive and enriching environment for faculty and staff was prominent in these events. By promoting community-building, wellness, and professional growth, CTL reinforces UIC's commitment to providing an exceptional learning and working environment.  These initiatives can help enhance the overall quality of education and the faculty experience, underscoring UIC's commitment to its teaching community.
