2022 UIC Teaching Contest for Young Teachers Deadline: May 16, 2022 校级青年教师教学大赛

In order to promote teaching excellence at UIC and nominate outstanding young teachers for the upcoming 6th Guangdong Teaching Contest for Young Teachers in May, we are pleased to launch the 2022 UIC Teaching Contest for Young Teachers. The theme of this contest is Deliver a Quality Course”. Detailed requirements, guidelines, and scoring criteria are listed in the attachment (only provided in Chinese). The rubrics are the same with ones used for the provincial contest.


Eligibility:

1. Teaching staff under age 40 (born after Aug. 31, 1981).

2. Has at least one year teaching experience at UIC. 


Based on the theme, the application materials include (see attachment)

1. Cover page.

2. The course syllabus.

3. Classroom teaching design for 10 teaching hours (a table of contents is required and the template can be found in the attached).

4. Corresponding to the teaching design above, the continuous 20-min PPT slides for each teaching hour are required.

5. Two individual one-teaching-hour class video recordings.


Note: The standard length of one teaching hour is prescribed as 50 minutes at UIC.


How to apply:

1. Non-native Mandarin speaking teaching staff are highly welcome to apply and submit the documents in English at the university-wide Contest. Participants are responsible to translate the application materials into Chinese when they are nominated to the provincial Contest.

2. Please pack application materials into a zipped file and send it through e-mail to ctl@uic.edu.cn titled 2022 UIC TCYT + Teacher’s Name (example: 2022 UIC TCYT Arie Jin) before 12:00 noon 16th May, 2022.


Awards:

1. Award certificates and cash prize will be provided for Grand Prize, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, and Honorable Mention.

2. The top participants will be recommended to participate in the contest at the provincial level. The result will be announced around mid-May 2022.
