SCC AI Literacy Seminars| What is AI Literacy and Why it Matters?

SCC AI Literacy Seminars are to be held every Friday noon starting from 8 Nov 2024. The first Seminar on 8 Nov will be hosted by Prof Matthew SANSOM, Professor of the Department of Music, School of Culture and Creativity, who will lead discussion and sharing on the topic: "What is AI Literacy and Why it Matters?"

About Prof Matthew SANSOM
Prof. Matthew SANSOM is an artist whose work spans various media and contexts, including sound, video, sculpture, installation, performance, and musical composition. His work has been exhibited and performed internationally at venues such as the National Theatre of Prague, the Victoria and Albert Museum, ICA (London), CCA (Glasgow), t-u-b-e Galerie (Munich), the Korean Institute of Culture, and Ely Cathedral. He has received commissions for sound-based works from organisations like Liverpool City Council, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, and the Four Seasons Hotel (now the Regent Hotel, Pudong), Shanghai. With a background that includes classical saxophone, DJing, and electronic music production, he holds a doctorate in free improvisation, where he explored the nature of the creative process and musical meaning. He has also published on topics related to the philosophy, aesthetics, and pedagogy of creativity. Matthew has worked at leading UK universities, including Surrey and Newcastle, held senior management roles at Sunway University in Malaysia, and is now a Professor of Music at UIC.
