On December 3, 2025, the 8th session of the "Beyond Boundaries" T&L Lecture Series, hosted by the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), was successfully held. Titled "Academic Decorum: Proper Faculty Conduct in the Local Context," the lecture was delivered by Dr. Milen JISSOV, Associate Director of CTL and Associate Professor of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS). Dr. JISSOV shared professional insights on the faculty code of conduct, attracting active participation from faculty members across the university, with a vibrant academic atmosphere and enthusiastic interaction throughout the event.

Dr. Milen JISSOV has years of rich experience in higher education management and teaching practice. He has profound research accumulation and practical experience in faculty development and academic conduct norms in cross-cultural educational contexts.

At the beginning of the lecture, Dr. JISSOV emphasized that BNBU is a special demonstration window for higher education in China, and faculty members must set an example by abiding by professional bottom lines and establishing models of professional conduct. In the core content sharing, he elaborated on key dimensions of faculty professional behavior, focusing on clarifying core principles such as teacher-student relationship boundaries and zero tolerance for sexual harassment, and strengthening awareness through case studies and industry standards. Meanwhile, Dr. JISSOV provided guidelines on handling sensitive issues, covering regulatory requirements for politically sensitive topics, information management, fund operations, and online behavior. In addition, he paid attention to the cross-cultural adaptation needs of foreign faculty, encouraging them to seek support through on-campus resources.

During the Q&A session, participants actively raised questions related to faculty professional conduct. Dr. JISSOV provided detailed responses based on cases and norms, triggering in-depth thinking among the audience. Participants agreed that the lecture met practical needs, combining theoretical and operational value, and effectively clarified behavioral boundaries in the local context; foreign faculty members also stated that the sharing on cross-cultural adaptation and resource support helped them integrate into the campus work environment more quickly.

Focusing on the key topic of faculty professional conduct, this lecture provided clear behavioral guidance and risk prevention strategies for university faculty in a cross-cultural context. It helped the university build a healthy and orderly academic environment. In the future, CTL will continue to rely on this lecture series to bring more high-quality sharing tailored to the needs of educational practice, promoting the continuous improvement of teaching quality and academic norms.
