Taking place in T2-202, May 11, the seventh Brown Bag Teaching Sharing (BBTS) was held by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) to provide a relaxing and pleasant environment for peer communication and learning among teaching staff. We were glad to have Ms. Roser CERVERA-PAREJO as the presenter for this session. About 10 teachers attended the sharing.
Ms. CERVERA during the sharing
Ms. CERVERA shared her opinions on EdTech and AI in higher education and tips on employing technology and AI in the teaching process. According to Ms. CERVERA, EdTech facilitates a more convenient education environment and provide new learning methods for both teachers and students. AI is also beneficial to students in terms of conversation and writing practice, vocabulary development, and grammar instruction. However, it may also pose some issues – plagiarism using AI and bias and discrimination occur in answers given by AI are two of the most typical examples.
Ms. CERVERA introducing the AI tools
Apart from delivering her thoughts, Ms. CERVERA shared with the participants some useful AI tools for teaching and introduced their functions respectively. The development of artificial intelligence highlights the importance of a combination between AI tools and education. It is not difficult to tell the helpfulness of her sharing of AI tools.
The BBTS provides a platform for UIC faculties to share their teaching experiences and pedagogical discoveries, fostering peer learning and exchange opportunities. Every teaching staff member can register as a presenter. CTL encourages more faculty members to participate in promoting teaching and learning excellence at UIC.
