On Septermber 9th, 2021, Mr.Yanyu Bao visited UIC and delivered a lecture entitled “Math Meets with Science and Education Flim” to UIC staff and students.

Mr. Yanyu Bao has a fine grasp of math culture and math educational innovation. He is honored as the First Man of Chinese Science Film, and has produced several well-known math educational science film. Besides, he is also the recipient of national high quality courses, and multiple. Mr. Bao dedicates himself into teaching career, he used to serve as the president assistant of Zhejiang Linhai Foreign Language School, President of Linhai Tongzhi Middle School, and the Academic President of Zhengjiang Lanrun Angel Foreign Language School.

At the beginning of the lecture, the Vice President (Academic) Professor Huaxiong Huang sent his sincere welcome to Mr. Bao.

Mr. Bao first introduced the predicament of Chinese education, and pointed out that the key to break the ice is to increase teaching efficiency. Then he used his science education film as an example to demonstrate some ways of improving teaching excellence. Finally, he shared his own thoughts about his work and the status quo of education.

Audience of the Lecture

He also shared two of his work. In the Seven Bridges of Koenigsberg, he vividly illustrated the origin this historical math question, how it raised the famous mathematician Leonhard Euler’s awareness, how it gradually evolved into topology, and briefly introduced its solution.

At the end of the lecture, President Tao Tang presented souvenirs to Mr. Bao to express the appreciation for the enlightening presentation.
