2025 “CTL Spark Fund”

Faculty-Student Co-Creation Program

I. Program Overview

To enhance the quality of education and nurture well-rounded talents with vision and intellectual breadth at BNBU, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2025 “CTL Spark Fund” Faculty-Student Co-Creation Program. This initiative aims to promote a creative cycle where research informs teaching, teaching enriches learning, and both advance in mutual reinforcement.

Guided by the University motto of In knowledge and in deeds, unto the whole person, the program seeks to build a collaborative innovation platform where faculty and students work together to transform creative ideas into impactful teaching practices, thereby elevating the overall quality of instruction and student learning experience across the University.

The program encourages transdisciplinary and cross-faculty collaboration, supporting joint exploration in emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence and related applications. Through this process, faculty members expand their research horizons, enrich course content, and strengthen the integration of research and teaching, while students cultivate critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation through inquiry-based and experiential learning.

Project outcomes are expected to demonstrate tangible contributions to teaching and learning. In addition to research reports, teams are encouraged to present results in diverse forms, such as teaching cases, course resources, video productions, digital tools, or portfolios, to showcase the innovative achievements and educational impact of faculty-student collaboration.

II. Team Requirements

1. Team Composition
Each project is expected to run for one year. Each team may include up to 2 full-time faculty members and 2-5 undergraduate students, with a faculty member serving as the Principal Investigator (PI). The PI is expected to articulate clear goals for research-based learning, possess experience in supervising undergraduate research (e.g., Final Year Projects or competitions), and provide necessary academic and resource support throughout the project.

2. Student Roles and Responsibilities
Students are the co-investigators (co-Is) and play a central role in project execution. They are expected to participate actively in all key stages to ensure the project’s direction, academic rigor, and practical outcomes. Each student participate in only one team during the project cycle to ensure deep engagement and diverse contribution.

III. Funding & Project Evaluation

1. Funding Support
Up to five projects will be awarded funding under this scheme (the final number of funded projects may vary depending on the quality of project proposals). Each awarded team will receive a grant of RMB 10,000. All expenditures must be reimbursed before the university’s financial closing date for the academic year, as announced by the Finance Office. Any unused funds after the deadline or unapproved projects will not be retained or carried forward.

2. Project Completion and Deliverables
Each team is required to submit a final completion report on its project to CTL. The report should comprehensively summarize the project process, progress, challenges, outcomes, and the specific ways in which results have been applied or are expected to enhance teaching and learning practices.

Either faculty or students may serve as the primary contributor of deliverables. The institutional affiliation for all deliverables should be listed as Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (北师香港浸会大学).

IV. Application Process

The project leader should complete and submit the Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University CTL Spark Fund Faculty-Student Co-Creation Program Application Form (Attachment 1) by November 30, 2025. Proposals must clearly articulate project objectives, expected outcomes, teaching-related application potential, and implementation plans, and should be submitted to ctl@bnbu.edu.cn.

CTL will organize an expert review panel to evaluate all submissions and select projects based on merit. Results will be announced after the completion of the review process. We invite all faculty and students to participate and work together for building a vibrant community of teaching and learning.
