About the Speaker: 

Prof. Li is the Executive President and Distinguished Professor of City University of Dongguan. Previous to this post, he was the Pro-Rector of City University of Macau, concurrent Dean of School of Education, Director of Macau Education Development Research Center. Prof. Li has varied teaching, research and administrative experience in a number of universities at home and abroad, including University of Alberta, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong Education University. Prof. Li is the leading scholar in phenomenological pedagogy in China. He is also the strong advocator of action research, such as Learning Study, Lesson Study and Teaching Study in both basic education background and higher education institutes. Currently, he is the Senior Editor/Editor of four prestigious international journals.


Abstract: In this presentation, Prof. Li will first introduce the large background of university teaching innovation such as disruptive technology in education, post pandemic university environment, and university development. Then he will present some actual cases of action research projects of university teaching innovation with clear analysis of the difficulties and challenges in the action process and strategies to tack them. By closing, he will propose some suggestions and policy advice on facilitating positive changes in university classroom teaching. The research methodology that he will present is action research framework.
