Abstract

In 2011, Prof. Chris Budd Obe was a co-author of a major report into UK maths education called 'A world-class mathematics education for all our young people. This highlighted a number of issues in the UK and steps which should be taken to change things. Since then, many of these changes have happened, and we have simultaneously seen an explosion in effective mathematics outreach. In this talk, Prof. Chris Budd OBE will discuss these changes, talking both about teaching and outreach. He will also describe a programme that he runs at the University of Bath which trains undergraduates on how to communicate mathematics effectively.
